The blank brief

Six prompts, in order.

Each answer area is left empty in the downloadable template.

  1. The decision or question

What decision do you need to make, or what question should the analysis help answer?

  2. Dataset context

What data is available or planned? Describe its source, period, measures, coverage and known limitations.

  3. Intended audience

Who will use the analysis, and what context or prior knowledge should it account for?

  4. Preferred outputs

What format would be useful, such as a written summary, tables, charts or presentation?

  5. Deadline

When is the work needed, and are there any milestones to plan around?

  6. Privacy considerations

What privacy, access or handling requirements should shape the analysis? Do not include names or other identifiable learner data; share aggregate or de-identified context only.
